Private School Scholarship Preparation

Our Private School Scholarship preparation program supports students preparing for academic scholarship exams at independent and private schools. Scholarship exams are highly competitive and often assess a student’s ability to think critically, solve unfamiliar problems, read carefully and write clearly under timed conditions.

Different schools may use different testing providers, including ACER, Edutest or other assessment formats. Because of this, our scholarship preparation focuses on transferable academic skills, reasoning strategies, exam confidence and strong written expression.

How We Teach Scholarship Preparation

We teach scholarship preparation through explicit modelling, guided practice and independent application. Students are not expected to work through difficult reasoning tasks alone.

Our tutors first explain the question type and model the thinking process. We show students how to identify patterns, eliminate unlikely answers, unpack written prompts and plan responses quickly. Students then practise with support before attempting independent tasks under timed conditions.

After each activity, we review the answers together. We explain where the student’s reasoning was strong, where errors occurred and how to improve their approach next time. For writing tasks, we provide feedback on structure, vocabulary, sentence control, originality and clarity.

What Makes Our Lessons Different

Our lessons are explicit, structured and supportive. Students are not left to work through difficult content alone. Instead, our tutors explain each concept clearly, model examples, guide students through practice and then check whether they can complete similar tasks independently.

This allows us to identify gaps quickly and correct misunderstandings before they become long-term problems. Students receive clear explanations, repeated practice, targeted feedback and practical strategies they can use in school assessments, homework and exams.

Curriculum-Aligned Learning

Our programs are designed to support the skills and content students are expected to learn at school. For Prep to Year 10, our course outlines are informed by the Australian Curriculum. For VCE subjects, our tutoring is aligned with the relevant VCAA Study Designs.

This helps students strengthen classroom learning, prepare for assessments and build the knowledge and skills needed for future year levels.

Exclusive Resources Written by Experienced Educators

At SAC Tutoring, our learning resources are written in-house by our experienced education team, including VIT registered teachers and VCAA assessor staff. These resources are designed specifically for our tutoring programs and are created to support the skills, content knowledge and assessment strategies students need at each year level.

Our materials may include structured lesson notes, worked examples, practice questions, revision tasks, writing scaffolds, assessment-style questions and targeted skill-building activities. They are designed to break down difficult concepts clearly, guide students through examples and support independent practice after explicit teaching.

These resources are exclusive to students enrolled in our tutoring programs. They are not sold individually, not available for separate purchase and not distributed outside SAC Tutoring.

Small Group and One-on-One Support

Students can receive support through small group tutoring or one-on-one lessons, depending on their learning needs and goals. Small group lessons allow students to learn in a focused, structured environment while still receiving guidance, feedback and support. One-on-one lessons provide more personalised assistance for students who need targeted intervention, extension or exam preparation.

Both options are designed to help students build confidence, improve understanding and develop stronger independent learning habits.

Assessment and Progress Tracking

We regularly assess each student’s understanding through classwork, independent practice, revision tasks and targeted questioning. This allows us to identify strengths, gaps and areas that require more support.

Our tutors monitor how students approach questions, how accurately they apply skills and whether they can explain their reasoning. This helps us adjust lesson focus and provide more targeted support over time.

Homework and Practice

Where appropriate, students may receive homework, revision questions or practice tasks to reinforce what they have learned in class. These tasks are designed to consolidate key skills, improve accuracy and build confidence between lessons.

Homework is not given for the sake of extra workload. It is used to help students practise important skills, prepare for upcoming assessments and develop stronger independent study habits.

Building Confidence, Not Just Marks

Academic improvement is important, but confidence matters too. Many students struggle because they feel lost, rushed or afraid of making mistakes. Our tutors create a supportive environment where students can ask questions, practise difficult skills and learn from errors.

Over time, students become more willing to attempt challenging tasks, explain their reasoning and participate more confidently in school.

Parent Communication

We understand that parents want to know how their child is progressing. Our team provides updates where appropriate, including feedback on effort, confidence, strengths and areas that need further development.

This helps families stay informed and allows us to work together to support the student’s learning.

STUDENTS & PARENT REVIEWS

Real results, real families

Hear from the students and parents who've experienced the SAC difference.

My daughter's teacher at school told us that she has learning gaps and that they have to be filled quickly or else she will miss out more in her learning.

So we enrolled her into SAC Tutoring's 1 on 1 classes. Her tutor, Donna is so friendly and helpful. Not only is she catching up now, she is also studying ahead of her peers!

Thank you :)

- Hidaya A's parents.

I used to have a lot of fear at school when I could not understand a certain topic or chapter in class.

I used to give up so easily. Now, with SAC Tutoring's help, I have gained so much more confidence and developed joy in learning new concepts.

My tutor at SAC really teaches every concept and breaks it down step-by-step for me, to make sure that I understand and learn.

- Calvin K.

I've been a student at SAC Tutoring since 2015. I am now in Year 8 and I am definitely enjoying the perks of learning far ahead of my classmates at school.

I have also sat the Selective School exam and secured a place in Suzanne Cory High School in 2021.

Thanks to SAC Tutoring for enhancing my maths, writing and reasoning skills!
